Best Friends is the nation’s largest “no kill” animal sanctuary. Located on 33,000 acres in Kanab, Utah, the sanctuary houses up to 1,500 pets available for adoption. Wonderful volunteer opportunities. Worth a visit, a donation, or both! Now featured on National Geographic’s “DogTown” series!
Beads for Education offers beautiful beaded dog collars and leashes created by the Dupoto Women’s Group in Isinya, Kenya. Twenty-five Maasai women support over 128 children in school, many of whom are now moving on to college.
SARDOC (Search and Rescue Dogs of Colorado) volunteers and their dogs train for up to three years to become valuable members of Colorado Search and Rescue teams.
HARP (Homer Allied Research Project) is an innovative, Colorado-based canine cancer research project, dedicated to finding ways to ease the burden on cancer patients and their families in our communities.
